The Hobart Bahá'í CommunityThe Bahá'í community of Hobart is made up of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. The first Spiritual Assembly in Tasmania was formed in Hobart in 1949. Today there are approximately 50 Bahá'ís living in the city of Hobart. |
The Bahá'í Faith is a worldwide religion with more than five million members around the globe. It is the youngest of the world's religions and is the second most widespread religion in the world. The word Bahá'í means "follower of Bahá'ú'lláh." Bahá'u'lláh was the Prophet-Founder of the Bahá'í Faith. His name in Arabic means "The Glory of God". Bahá'ís believe that the promises given by God in the Holy Books of every religion have been fulfilled; that the promised Day of God has arrived. Bahá'ís believe that now is the time for all humankind to come together in peace and unity to build the Kingdom of God on earth.
